(Thich Nhat Hanh) Drops of Emptiness (Songs, Chants and Poetry from Plum Village, France)
1 cd
running Time: 1 hour 2 minutes
In the Vietnamese Zen tradition, mindfully chosen music and words can serve as "soothing droplets" to cool the heart. Recorded on location at Thich Nhat Hanh"s Plum Village community in France, Drops of Emptiness, invites listeners into the sanctuary of this practice.
These deeply felt works include Thich Nhat Hanh"s poetry, the Vietnamese folk songs and Buddhist hymns of Sister Chan Khong and chants performed by the nuns and monks of Plum Village. Drops of Emptiness is an opportunity to share in musical contemplations rarely heard outside the seclusion of the Zen monastery. Songs and chants are in English, French and Vietmanese.
Thich Nhat Hanh is a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, scholar, poet, and peace activist. During the war in Vietnam, he worked tirelessly for reconciliation between North and South Vietnam. His lifelong efforts to generate peace moved Martin Luther King Jr. to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967. He lives in a small community in France where he teaches, writes, gardens, and works to help refugees worldwide. Thich Nhat Hanh has conducted many mindfulness retreats in Europe and North America helping veterans, children, environmentalists, psychotherapists, artists and many thousands of individuals seeking peace in their hearts, and in their world.
