Post Description
There are no shortage of music production applications available to iOS users' fingertips. I myself have used BeatMaker as a minor production tool to kill time while traveling during college. However, my first foray into production was during high school when a friend of mine showed me Fruity Loops. Sadly, it was a Windows only program.
However, that has now changed. Fruity Loops Mobile ($14.99 for iPhone & iPod Touch) and FLM HD ($19.99 for the iPad) is now available from The App Store. The program will allow users to pass project files back and forth between the desktop and mobile versions of FL studio. However, the mobile version will lack support for VST instruments. Image Line blames the lack of VST support on the lack of computing power of the mobile devices.
Those familiar with the FL desktop interface will appreciate the resizable, and stackable piano keys as well as reconfigurable drum pads. However, they will also cringe at not being able to load their own samples as of now, but this feature has been promised to be included via a future update.
While the application might not win any converts over from the already robust BeatMaker and GarageBand music production Apps, experience FL desktop users will appreciate the ability to compose on the fly when inspiration hits, and transfer what they created to their desktop studio with ease.
