Green Mountain Outlook 11-14-2009: Remembering Our Veterans

The youngest American soldiers who fought in World War II are now in their 80s.
Of the 16 million men and women who served in the Armed Forces during the war, there were 5.7 million alive in the last census in 2000. At that time their average age was 76.7.
Today it is estimated that there are perhaps 3 million veterans still alive, with 1200 dying every day. What has been termed The Greatest Generation is rapidly passing off the scene. We thought that this Veteran?s Day would be a good time to remember them, and tell one of their stories.
