Golden Earring - Regensburg,Germany xx.xx.1971

audience tape(1st copy)>CDR>wave(EAC)>flacf(8)
I used Philps CDR 570 recorder and Nero Wave Editor
to remove some silence and clicks, fade in and fade out
because the original tape has cuts in applause for the
first 3 tracks ,a cut in track 4 during the drum solo
(09:11min)and a cut in disc 2 track 1 (17:11 min)
I never saw a Golden Earring show from this early time,
it`s great music, great improvisations and a Killer version
of "I`m going to send../Eight Miles High Jam 37:18 min"
The quality is good(+),perhaps vg for this time.
Listen to MP3 samples for your own opinion. The encore
fades out,I think the taper had only a C 90 tape for
this show. T As far as I know is the encore an
unreleased song,Barry Hay announced the song as :
Take them home girl and I can find no song with this
name in the GE discographie.A slight hiss is hearing,
I used no noise reduction. So,that`s all, enjoy the great
music.

As I recall, there was plenty of discussion on the proper date for this show. It was identified as May 1971 in the first seed of this show, but I think there was some debate as to whether it might be a 1972 show during the re-seed in late 2006. Any clarification on the date would be appreciated.

Looking at the links, the Who support tour did not start until Aug 72. I think one of the main reasons there was debate as to whether this might be early 72 is due to the fact that three of the songs (1000 feet below you, Brother Wind, From Heaven From Hell) are all from the Together LP which was released in March 72. If they were touring in support of that LP, it makes sense that they would have those in the set list, although it is still a possibility that they were playing these tunes prior to the release of the LP. I haven't listened closely enough to the concert lately to see if they make any mention of a new album when playing those tunes.

Track 2 on disc 2 is "I Can't Get a Hold on Her" which the B-side on the single "Another 45 Miles" which was released in 1969. Before this song the crowd is asking for "Back Home" which was released in 1970. Also before "I'm Going to Send My Pigeons to the Sky" he says they recorded the song about a year or so ago. It was on the "Golden Earring" album which was released in 1970. This is mere speculation, but I would say most signs point towards this being a 1971 show as opposed to a 1972 show.

It is still unclear to me whether it is 71 or 72, but nonetheless, it is a great historical document of a full show during that time frame.
