Ennio Morricone OMRI (Rome, 10 november 1928) is een Italiaanse componist die de muziek voor ruim 500 films en televisieseries componeerde en orkestreerde. Hij componeerde tevens meer dan honderd popsongs (voor onder meer Mireille Mathieu en Mina) en een 150-tal klassieke composities zoals een opera, een tiental viool- en pianoconcerto's en kamermuziek.

Tot zijn bekendste filmscores behoren For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), The Mission (1986), The Untouchables (1987), Cinema Paradiso (1988), Bugsy (1991), Wolf (1994), Malèna (2001), Fateless (2005) en Baaria (2009). Hij schrijft momenteel muziek voor 'Capone Rising' van Brian De Palma.

De componist verkocht wereldwijd meer dan 50 miljoen albums en singles, waarvan meer dan 6,5 miljoen in Frankrijk, ruim drie miljoen in de Verenigde Staten en meer dan twee miljoen albums in Korea.
