Post Description
The smiley Alice Roberts strides out into a new Digging for Britain with revisits to sites we saw in the first series. Invariably, when she arrives at these extensive archaeological digs, it's wet, muddy and generally miserable. But Alice just keeps on smiling.
She takes us back to the Yewden Roman villa in Buckinghamshire, site of a grisly find, the remains of 97 babies. Could the place have been used as a brothel, where unwanted tots were cruelly disposed of?
That was an early theory, but there could be a gentler explanation, according to experts. Maybe Yewden was a birthing centre, site of some rudimentary, well-meaning obstetrics.
