A Spin-off from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami features an all-star ensemble cast including David Caruso, who plays tough melodramatic Police Lieutenant Horatio Caine, assisted by Southern Beauty, Calleigh Duquesne and their team, including Officer Tim Speedle who was murdered in Season 3, Officer Eric Delko, who departed in Season 8, but will return full-time in Season 9. Assisted by Dr. Alexx Woods, who suffered severe burn-out after working with the Dead, she left in Season 6, and is currently an ER Doctor. Lieutenant Megan Donner, Horatio"s original partner left due to the job reminding her too much of her deceased husband. She only appeared for 10 episodes. Ryan Wolfe, a former patrol officer replaced Tim in Season 3, while Officer Natalia Boa Vista filled the void left by Megan Donner almost 4 years after her departure. Dr. Tara Price replaced Alexx, but was then herself arrested, and was replaced in turn by Dr. Tom Loman. Detective Yelina Salas and Sergeant Frank Tripp worked alongside the team together before Yelina left to become a PI, leaving Frank to be partnered with Horatio. Season 8 saw the arrival of Officers Jesse Cardoza and Walter Simmons, the former having worked with Horatio for 5 years as a Homicide Detective, and the latter transferring from Nightshift to replace then-departing Eric Delko.
