Born on February 25th 1968 in Le Mans, France, Dominique Fillon was brought up both in a world of classical music thanks to his father's passion (Mahler, Ravel, Bach, Villa-Lobos …) and of pop music, his three older brothers ardent fans of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Crosby Stills and Nash…At the age of 11, he discovered the piano and started teaching himself to play, compose and sing. After playing in several different rock and pop rock bands (Deux points à la ligne, Orgon) he met two jazz pianists in his home town: Philippe Duchemin and Guislain Deppe. It was then that he decided, at 17, to study jazz by playing standards and began performing in as many local clubs as possible. At the same time, his love for Brazilian music was born when he discovered such artists as Djavan, Tom Jobim, Joao Gilberto or Yvan Lins.

At the age of 20, Dominique arrived in Paris and attended the American School of Modern Music, only to stay three months, opting to study on his own. Over the next year and a half, his repertoire included jazz rock, funk and fusion which he played on the club scene of the capital. During this time, he crossed paths with many Parisian and international musicians the likes of Dave Weckl, John Patitucci, Paco Seri, Scott Anderson, Etienne M’bape, Jean-Christophe Maillard, Chris Henry, Eric Sauviat, Hervé Brault, Jaco Largent, Jeff Baillard, Thierry et Jean-Philippe Fanfant or Laurent Vernerey…

Meeting these musicians opened him up to the worlds of jazz, funk and world music, and he soon found himself recording or on tour with many well known artists including Secret Talk, Bruce Johnson, Angélique Kidjo, Ralph Thamar, Michel Fugain, Bernard Lavilliers, Jimmy Cliff, Monica Passos, Ladja, Lokua Kanza, Philippe Lavil, Sara Tavares, Viktor Lazlo, Henry Dikongué, Eva Gambus, Geoffrey Oryema...

When he turned 30, he produced, arranged and co-wrote the album “Zambouya" with Christophe Monthieux for the artist Marijosé Alie, and also signed two feature film television soundtracks. With solid experience now behind him, and with help from his publisher Michel Fédoroff, Dominique went into artist production, choosing carefully the projects he wanted to work on and went on to record a dozen albums including Alioune K, Sanseverino 1, 2
and 3, Catherine Miles, Philippe Lavil and Elisabeth Anaïs…

From an idea initiated by Fédoroff, Dominique decided to undertake a solo project with piano in the forefront. In forming his own group, and thanks to Marcio Faraco, he met the Brazilian guitarist Sergio Farias who came to Paris to study soundtrack composition. A close collaboration was born and many projects came to be.

Together they prepared Dominique's solo album and recorded it in October 2004 with Steve Rodby, Stéphane Huchard, Jean-Philippe Fanfant , Luiz Augusto, Steve Shéhan, Nicolas Montazaud, Julio Gonçalves, Marc Berthoumieux, Franck Tortiller, Fabrice Alleman and Eva Gambus.

In 2006, Dominique arranged and produced Sanseverino's third album. He is also musical director of a project called "Domtomfolies" for the Francofolies music festival. This project is the final phase of a contest held in the French territories and which has as goal to discover new talent in these countries every year.
