Post Description
Sink Ships is heartworn alt-country/rock made by two Australians, a Swede and two Danes, based in Copenhagen. They sing tales of heartache, distance, love, urban melancholia and homesick blues over twangy lap-steel guitar, wailing violin and a ragged rhythm section. It's tender, timeless and longing in all the right places, rocking and raw everywhere else. Plowing a sonic road that fans of Uncle Tupelo, Songs: Ohia, Big Star, My Morning Jacket and Neil Young & Crazy Horse will find agreeable, but emerging at the end with something utterly their own, Sink Ships just might be the best new band you haven't heard yet.
The band have supported artists such as Phosphorescent, Cass McCombs, David Eugene Edwards (Wovenhand/16 Horsepower), Mark Eitzel (American Music Club), British troubadour Pete Molinari, art-rockers Field Music and Danish artists such as The Rumour Said Fire and Christian Hjelm.
In November 2013, Sink Ships will self release their self-titled LP on 12" and digital formats.
They released their debut mini-album 'Half The Boy' through Copenhagen label Slow Records in August 2012, and took their sound to Sweden in the summer of 2012, playing shows in Malmo and Gothenburg.
