Post Description
Gigawatt Studios, creator of the Ultimate Ride coaster series, turns its attention to water slides in Wild Rides: WaterPark Factory. As the name suggests, players can design a wide array of slippery tubes, twists, turns, drops, and bumps (more than a million combinations) as they build the water park of their dreams. To help smooth out the rides before opening them to the public, players can control a "typical" family of five members (mom, dad, and kids), gauging reactions based on icons that appear above the characters" heads as they test the waters of the slippery slopes. Both third-person and first-person ("Rider Cam") perspectives are available during the rides, with players controlling the characters movement (swaying, speed, loops, and so forth) via the mouse.
Two separate modes of play allow for free form construction or a more structured park environment with consideration of the rider"s reactions required. Several default parks provide amusing backgrounds for the water parks, including Seasick Island, Texas Hills, and Slippery Swamp. Actual slide construction is kept simple with a multitude of icon-based "track" segments and elevation tools, and "the family" can be used to test slides at any point during construction. In Park Designer mode, players can influence the layout of the theme park as well as design the rides.
