Post Description
Dit is S08E05 van Soundstage van PBS met Willie Nelson, levende legende van de country muziek en één van de vier "Highwaymen".
"Willie Nelson has long been considered one of the legendary musical and cultural icons of his time. As a Nashville artist in the '60s, Nelson penned some of the most enduring songs of the past few decades, including the Patsy Cline-immortalized "Crazy," "Night Life" and the sublime "Funny How Time Slips Away."
But that was just the prologue for the iconoclastic singer-songwriter, who would redefine country music in the '70s after moving to Texas. While settling in to the musical melting pot of Austin, Nelson was celebrated for his outlaw country movement while collaborating with artists like Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson.
Over the next 40 years, Nelson wrote more than 2,500 songs and released close to 300 albums. He is recognized worldwide as an American troubadour, poet, author and actor. As a philanthropist, Nelson has helped mobilize support for the American farmer, both as a founder of Farm Aid and more recently as one of the nation's most recognized advocates of the use of biodiesel.
Nelson remains a vital icon in country music, having influenced generations of new artists and music movements. He continues to create distinctive and timeless music and has remained relevant throughout his career."
