2011 CMT Music Awards
Jason Aldean has been announced as the leading nominee for the 2011 CMT Music Awards, with a total of four nominations. Meanwhile, The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift and Zac Brown Band earned three nominations apiece. In addition, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and Carrie Underwood, who each earned two nominations, join all these seven artists in the top category for video of the year.
The 10 nominees for video of the year are Aldean's "My Kinda Party," The Band Perry's "If I Die Young," Chesney's "The Boys of Fall," Lady Antebellum's "Hello World," Lambert's "The House That Built Me," Rascal Flatts' "Why Wait," Sugarland's "Stuck Like Glue," Swift's "Mine," Underwood's "Undo It" and Zac Brown Band's "Colder Weather." However, the list will be reduced to five nominees during the live telecast, with final voting at CMT.com and via text messaging during the show. The award will be presented at the conclusion of the show to the artist and the director.
Other artists with two nominations include Sheryl Crow, Aaron Lewis, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Thompson Square and Keith Urban. Other nominated artists include Lee Brice, Luke Bryan, the Civil Wars, Sara Evans, the JaneDear Girls, Toby Keith, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Jerrod Niemann, Darius Rucker and Steel Magnolia.
Crow and Lewis can be found in the collaborative video category, along with pop stars such as Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson and Kid Rock. In addition, country legends like Charlie Daniels, George Jones and Loretta Lynn are also on the ballot. Meanwhile, the category for best CMT performance video includes eclectic nominees like Adele, Jimmy Buffett, John Mayer and Train.
