XNA biography
XNA is a Symphonic Prog band influenced by prog legends YES, ELP and GENESIS. At the helm of the band is lead vocalist David Hussey (GENESIS tribute band, GABBLE RATCHET) strongly supported by a band of proficient musicians keyboardist Adam Malin (PSYCLE, SHELTERED LIVES, composer/author of solo sci-fi rock operas including "Singularity"), drummer/percussionist Scott Connor (CIRCA:, YOSO), guitarist Danny Bryle (PSYCLE, UNIVERSE, POOKIE), along with recent members, guitarist John Thomas (TONY CHILDS, VIXEN, FIREFLY, JOHN BROWN BAND) and bassist Jeff Bird (ROUNDABOUT, MAGNOLIA). These latter members replaced Bryle and Sherwood after the debut album release and are currently with the band.
XNA's debut album "When We Changed You" is produced by accomplished producer Billy Sherwood, who has been recording, mixing and producing artists as diverse as YES, CIRCA:, JOHN WETTON, RATT, MARS HOLLOW and recently WILLIAM SHATNER). Sherwood is also bassist and additional guitarist on the XNA album, and he describes the project as having "deep lyrics and music, very orchestral and dynamic, in the way old school GENESIS was done."
The music is wrapped around a sci fi concept, evocative lyrics and cinematic soundscapes. Sherwood is enthusiastic about the album stating, "the XNA project is amazing in both concept and performance. Each member of the band brings a level of virtuosity that when they join forces it becomes an incredibly dynamic and musically expressive production: orchestral music with power and punch, vocal depth, rock 'n' roll guitars and everything else it takes to make the perfect magical mixture. They asked me on board to produce/mix and it was an instant "yes"."
XNA should appeal to the fanbase of other Symphonic Prog artists such as ELP, GENESIS, YES, ECHOLYN, GREENSLADE and STARCASTLE.
