A splendid collection of traditional and new Irish music from Parsons and her band (with help from a few friends). The songs are centered mainly around Parsons' dramatic, quavering voice, but the instrumentation gets a grand workout, too, with plenty of tin whistle and uilleann pipe work scattered throughout; the opening "Katie Campbell's Rambles/Streets of Forbes" blends John McSherry's tin whistles and pipes beautifully, opening with the McSherry original and seguing into the traditional ballad. Parsons also displays her talents as an unaccompanied singer, most notably on "Lover's Ghost." An excellent and entertaining album that doesn't lock entirely to whatever passes for the proper Irish course, Loosely Connected is filled with promise.
Een niet zo bekende zangeres uit Ierland, maar voor mij wel een van de beste.
