After the first album, Essais / Volume 1 published by Aléa in 2015 and with the experience gleaned throughout 
their many concerts, pianist Pierre de Bethmann, contrabassist Sylvain Romano and drummer Tony Rabeson 
continue the adventure of the Pierre de Bethmann Trio.

Demanding composer and eminent musician, pianist Pierre de Bathmann continues to renew and question his art 
over the years. Always looking to the future, he explores seriously, but not without humor, the music he teaches 
and practices. The album restores the trio's music as if it were a concert. One captures the interactions 
and the complicit vibrations which circulate between the musicians.

We are seized by the content of the repertoire which puts back to back ten pieces dating from 1707 to 1985, 
written by various composers from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
From its always precise articulation the pianist develops the melodic dimension, weaves rich harmonic colors 
and explores many rhythmic spaces. His companions bring him their undeniable know-how. Supported by 
a flexible and inventive rhythm, the pianist alternates vehemence and sobriety, warmth and depth.

The interpretation of the trio is part of an idiom that can be described as classic and yet, behind each bar measurement 
hides a surprise. For the trio it is not a question of transforming at all costs, the theme the air or the standard, 
nor of sticking to the form of the original writing. The bias is rather to privilege the musicality, the inventiveness, 
the contrasts. Thus, several climates coexist.
Throughout the ten tracks of the album "Essais / Volume 2", Pierre's Trio of Bethmann delivers music of absolute freshness. 
As the inner look of an elegant and sober jazz that loves the meaning of beauty and flourishes without affectation.
