Country-music singing legend Jim Reeves appeared in only one feature film during his long and successful recording career: the charmingly goofy musical Western KIMBERLEY JIM. Released after his tragic death in an airplane crash in 1964, the film stars Reeves and Clive Parnell as a pair of American con artists who travel to Kimberley, South Africa, in the wake of that country's 19th-century diamond rush. Comic hijinks ensue as the brash moneygrubbers swindle the goodnatured townsfolk, fall in love with local lovelies, and even manage to do a good deed or two--all to the twang of country-western musical sequences.
