Post Description

A fascinating insight into A Formula One Stock Car racing season (2009).
A bitter 40-year family rivalry, bumper to bumper action, crashes, smashes, glory, anguish and the sport's own Romeo and Juliet tale - all in the story of one Formula One Stock Car racing season?

Frankie Wainman Jnr and Andy Smith grew up with their rival fathers dominating stock car racing in the 70s and 80s. Now, as the sport's leading drivers themselves, the Wainman-Smith rivalry has become fiercer than ever - propelled by both drivers' obsession to be the best and ratcheted higher by the pride of their families and teams.

Over a year's racing, cameras follow the Wainmans and the Smiths (with both younger brothers in action too) - as well as other drivers such as 16-year-old Georgia Mitchell and double glazing executive, Paul Hines - at home, in the garages, in the pits and on the track, as they compete in the gruelling National, European and World championships.
The course of the season finds grudge shunts, incidents and arguments, battling wives, bruises the size of dinner plates, love across the divide and even 10-year olds, destined to continue the family rivalry, racing souped-up minis. But at the end of a punishing season, who'll be doing the celebratory donuts and who'll be crying under a steaming raised bonnet?

Episode #4
It's the biggest race of the UK stockcar year, and a time for old scores to be settled between the Smith and Wainman families. This is the most bitterly fought World Final in history, with Paul Hines, the fastest-man in double glazing and a rank outsider, determined to break through and snatch the silverware for himself.
Meanwhile, for the womenfolk, when the chequered flag comes down the gloves come off in their long-standing battle for pole position.

Episode #5
A tale of thwarted love as the stockcar saga takes a truly Shakespearean twist. In the emotional climax of the World Final, a real life story of Romeo and Juliet emerges between the rival camps of the Smiths and the Wainmans. Will young love prevail - or can the enmity between the families only be sorted out in the mayhem of the track?

Episode #6
The grand finale of the stockcar season arrives, and with it, the final showdown between the Smith and Wainman clans. Has Frankie Wainman still got the hunger to beat the Smiths, or has he lost his focus? It's time for a dose of tough love to get Frankie's season back on track. But Frankie's eyes are on a different prize as he prepares his 10-year-old son for his first big race; a new generation of Smiths and Wainmans is waiting in the wings.
