While music lovers all over the world are mourning 
the great Leonard Cohen, little noise was made by the 
sad news that Victor Bailey, jazz fusion bass player 
extraordinaire, passed away today. 

Most people will know that Victor has been suffering 
from a progressive hereditary neurological disease 
which lead to increasing health problems. For this 
reason he had to retire from making music last year. 

He became world famous with Weather Report and was 
deeply appreciated throughout the rest of his career. 
I was lucky enough to see him live with other fusion 
masters Larry Coryell and Lenny White on a small 
scale trio tour around 10 years ago. 

Here he is with his own group on the Leverkusen Jazz- 
tage back in 2010, a repost of Lewojazz's post from 
2012. Thanks again Lewo! 

And thank you for your great music and presence, 
dear Victor. We will never forget you.
