Post Description
It's blinkin' freezing in Antartica but if anyone can brave the harsh conditions it's the Royal Navy.
Follow their adventures on the Navy's only ice patrol ship.
HMS Endurance has been specially built to cope with the challenging conditions of the icy waters of the Antartic.
The 140 strong crew set off on a four-month expedition in one of the world's most hostile environments and find out how they cope with the problems it brings.
Bob Tarrant has captained Endurance for two years, but now it's time to hand over the reigns to a new captain and he wants to make sure everything is, err, ship-shape before he departs.
All sounds well and good, but there are engine problems which lead to serious set backs. Can the crew get the vessel ready before the new commander takes over?
It's certainly an adventure which takes the crew to South Georgia to study the local seal population and Chile to celebrate Christmas. But there's trouble in store as there's a major flood in the engine room, which threatens to capsize the ship.
Can the crew save the ship as well as their own lives?
