The Complete Handbook of Sand Casting" - C.W. Ammen

This is a book that every sand caster should have. It's a very complete guide to sand casting, written by someone who has done it for a living. 

This book explains the process from the basics thru more advanced topics in a non-technical manner. There is no math or "theory", just practical methods.  Especially interesting are the recipes for green sand (water bonded molding sand), core binders, core pastes and more.  There is a list of casting defects and causes that is also helpful.
