The preliminaries are just about over, as the real business of racing begins in the 25th year of action for the production-based championship.

It's down to high speed business at Australia's Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit as race week for the opening round of the 2012 Superbike World Championship (WSBK) kicks off with this weekend's season opener. 

The 22nd hosting of WSBK action at Phillip Island, which will consist of two 22-lap races, carries a huge amount of intrigue, with seasoned world title-winning warriors such as Carlos Checa (Ducati) and Max Biaggi (Aprilia) facing a new wave of top guns in the 24-strong, nine-nationality grid in 2012.
