“Ramiro El Gay” is a musical project started by Ezequiel Lagos (vocals/piano/synthesizers). The name was taken from a Spanish comic book; after searching for months for a “serious” name, he got tired and found the “REG” monniker funny and exotic, and adopted it. Its sound can be described as a mix of contemporary progressive rock, pop and indie. In mid 2009, he got in contact with bassist Ramiro Astrada and gave him a handful of demos, which impressed him. Shortly after they teamed up with the brothers Marcelo and Fernando Salvatti (drums/percussion and guitar, respectively). After a few rehearsals, Ezequiel pulled out some of his savings to make an album professionally. Marcelo (the drummer) took over as the producer. Halfway through the recording, due to personal reasons, Ezequiel decided that he was moving to Dublin, Ireland; Ramiro (the bass player) got upset and quit. The other two were pretty excited about how the recording was going, and decided to stay until they finished the album. It clocks at 51 minutes and features eight tracks, out of which six contain lyrics, while the remaining two are instrumental numbers. At the time of writing this, Ezequiel is about to move to Dublin, Ireland, to start another band to perform this album with.
