“Ultra obscure and ultra awesome slice of Texan hard rock reissued by Rockadrome records. According to the liner notes, only five of the tracks here originally saw release on 100 copies of vinyl - amazing then, how consistent the quality is on this hour long, 16 track CD. Ultra serve up a forthright, pretense-free collection, distinguished by an overflowing abundance of dual lead guitars (at times it seems they can't go 30 seconds without some sweet guitarmonies - I love it!) and lead vocalist Don Evans' soulful affect. Feet firmly planted on the ground yet avoiding the pitfalls of the blooze, Ultra forgo generic redneck-isms for a vibe that if not entirely anti-celebratory, is cautionary and introspective for a genre more known for beer swilling, ass grabbing bravado. It's lamentable that major labels were clueless to these guys during their brief late seventies run, kudos to Rockadrome for digging this up and currently keeping it in print with a new cover.”
