Bells of Youth released their debut album ‘BOY’ in March 2014 without a record label while financed with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign.
The songs are best described as a mixture of frolicking lambs and dandelions and whiskey and cigarettes. It may be referred to as ‘indiepop’ or ‘harmonic electrofolk’, but you the listener would be the best judge of this. Either way, a liveshow by Bells of Youth is bound to bring a smile on your face.
In January the Amsterdam-based band was named one of the ‘bands to watch’ for 2014 in The Netherlands by the well-respected music magazine OOR, their music has been played frequently on national radio shows and they made an appearance on national television in ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ where they performed their single ‘She Said/He Said’. In the summer of 2014 they played 40 festival shows in The Netherlands (such as Paaspop, Zwarte Cross and Valkhof) and made their international live debut at Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Currently the band is working on their second album that is set to be released later this year.
