? On April 2010, Jeff Beck treated a small, lucky audience to an intimate and unique concert at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Jeff played songs off his new album "Emotion and Commotion", and classics from his acclaimed career including "People Get Ready" and "Brush With The Blues". This is a record of a very special night.
? Biography
You might mistake Jeff Beck's on-again, off-again appearances on record as signalling disinterest in the music business. More likely, his periodic blasts of creativity -- punctuated by long (or semi-long) pauses away from recording -- indicate how much Beck is a perfectionist. His early fire-breathing guitar work helped shape hard rock, and his mid-70s forays into jazz-fusion might only have?
NOTE: "Nessun Dorma" and "Hammerhead Have Been Nominated For Grammy Awards."
A few hundred very fortunate people had the grand oppportunity to see and hear Jeff Beck perform at the Grammy Museum. They witnessed a superlative performance. Beck's skillful rendition of "Corpus Christi Carol" featured long sustained notes that swooped, soared and mourned with all the hurt of a human heart. "Hammerhead" allowed Jeff Beck to release his arsenal with wah, wah pedal, riveting fireworks and knifing solos. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" is a gem that is tasty and emotive when played with Beck's bare fingers. "Brush With The Blues" is a concert favorite that accentautes exemplary blues and intense and riveting hard rock riffs. "How High The Moon" is a pleasant detour and tribute to the iconic Les Paul. "People Get Ready" is a wondrously performed soul instrumental of a great Curtis Mayfield song.
