Metropolitan Pops Orchestra - Instrumental Versions Of Bob Dylan Favorites (1966)
320 kbps mp3 | 68 MB | HQ Scans | RS & HF
Symphonic Pop | M-G-M/Metro Records | MS-597 | USA

“Have you ever wished Bob Dylan just wrote beautiful melodies, without those snarling lyrics of protest and social commentary? No? Well, the executives of M-G-M did and they hired Alan Lorber to set up some sessions with members & soloists of The London Symphony & Ted Heath Band at Abbey Road Studios in May of 1966 to make it happen. So while the Beatles were recording their "Revolver" album at Abbey Road, Bob Dylan was getting the easy listening treatment in the studio next door.

Alan Lorber also produced a single by his wife, Lesley Miller, which included a Dylan tune, "You Ain't Going Nowhere" (K-14074). The single made it to the promotional copy stage however no other singles for this album were released. Lesley Miller later divorced Alan Lorber and began a successful career as a back up singer performing on several Steely Dan records. M-G-M also released an album entitled "The Changing Times of Bob Dylan" by The Alan Lorber Orchestra (E/SE 4647) which differs from this LP.

The Metropolitan Pops Orchestra Plays Instrumental Versions Of Bob Dylan Favorites was issued (M/MS-597) in the summer of 1966 under M-G-M's budget label subsidiary Metro Records and was reissued in February 1967 with catalog number M/MS-617 (which was dropped from the Schwann catalog in 1969). A compact disc edition credited to the Alan Lorber Orchestra was also published in 2006 under the title "Bob Dylan: Times They Are A-Changin'" which included only two new recordings; the remaining six tracks are identical to those included on this LP release.”
