Plot:
It's fair to say that even if you've never seen it, everyone's heard about the The Hunt For Red October, 1984 movie blockbuster starring Sean Connery, based on Tom Clancy's bestseller.

It depicted the hijacking of a Russian nuclear submarine by a Soviet Captain determined to defect to the West, but as action-heavy as it appeared, the real story and subject of this documentary is far more exciting.

In 1975, political Officer Valery Sablin had grown unhappy with the fascist state that was more intent on lining its own pockets than those of its people. Communist Sablin decided to seize history and a state-of-the-art warship in his hands, sail up to Leningrad and spark a new revolution.

Charismatic and revolutionary he may have been, but as soon as his superiors uncovered his plan, they decided that they would rather sink the ship then allow it to fall into enemy hands.

Excessively foggy weather and Swedish fears that they were being invaded made things that much more complicated.

Asides from historians and members of the Red October themselves make this just as engaging and engrossing as the movie that kickstarted the tale's success.

Whether inspired genius or mad anti-nationalist, you can't deny that Sablin helped craft one of the most radical military revolutions in recent years.
