&#147;&#148;Dark Undercoat&#148; is the debut album by Emily Jane White released in 2007 on label Double Negative Records in the U.S. and by Talitres records in France. Emily Jane White is a dark folk singer/songwriter from California. Influenced by American blues, folk, and the mythologies of different cultures along with contemporary female singer/songwriters such as Kate Bush, she has been compared to Chan Marshall of Cat Power and Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star, with more distant influences from Nick Cave and P.J. Harvey.
