Post Description
Dominican-born merengue singer Ricky Castro rose to prominence in the '90s as the frontman of Ricky Castro y Su Banda Soberbia, a hardcore merengue outfit best known for hits such as "Después De Ti," "El Enano," "El Pariguayo," "Es Duro," and "El Sun Sun De La Carabela," among others. A native of Villa María in the Dominican capital and a former soundman for Carlos Manuel "El Zafiro", Castro pursued a career in accounting at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo and later in New York City, where he took up residence as he looked to further his musical calling. After the dissolution of Soberbia in the mid-2000s, Castro reemerged in 2008 with the solo release El Monstruo, which found him venturing out into the bachata realm
