Olivia Newton-John - Physical *1981* (Japan Pressing)

Physical is one of Olivia's finest albums - she is exuberantly happy on this and why not - she had met her husband to be, she was in love - and sang joyfully. The single 'Physical' was a smash hit, standing at no 1 in the US singles charts for ten weeks - joint second in the all time longest #1 runs. The album broke new ground for Olivia - hitherto her songs had mainly been soft ballads which suited her gentle and delicate style, but with Physical she triumphantly tackled more rocky songs with ease. The album is a lovely mixture of up-front songs like Physical and Landslide together with softer reflective songs like Falling and The Promise, woven together with the tender touch that Olivia has at her best. If just one album has to be chosen as her best, this one is up there in the front runners.
