Post Description
Video in motion for RNS510 and Skoda Columbus via permanent software.
Works on RNS510 B and C versions with
2680, 2720 , 2760, 3970, 3938 firmware
and works with West East V7 and V8.
Allows you to watch DVD films at high speed.
Single img, no links, tips below as readme included.
Burning:
- RNS-510 is very picky on CD media, so I suggest to always burn this software to a DVD media, not CD.
- Burn it on a Verbatim DVD at the slowest speed possible using Imageburn.
- Try to use a DVD-R and burn the image with "Track At Once" then it should work.
Installing:
-Do not put the key in the ignition, do not switch the RNS510 on, just insert the disk and it should start the install on its own, the screen will go black for periods and you will get the VW Logo a couple of times dont panic , don't switch it off in the mid of installing, just wait and let it finish, it will take about four or five minutes from memory.
-At the completion you will get a confirmation of the succesful install and the disk will eject.
-Now you can put the key in the ignition and enjoy.
If you get a warning telling you the firmware is an older or wrong version do the three button reset and try again, I have had that happen in some cars and it works fine second time.
- If RNS-510 complains about downgrade error, insert media and reboot unit by pressing Setup + Eject + Info/Mic/whatever top right button together.
On US units, use Guide button instead of Setup button.
You can only force a downgrade if you use the three button reset with the disk in the drive.
-Sometimes shows disc error (SWL error) but it disappear after a few seconds and continue to run the firmware.
-Sometimes the SWL error stays, then its defenately your burning proces wich is causing this. Try another pc.
The correct VIM update firmware changes nothing on your RNS except the code for enabling VIM, if you use this software it should only take about two minutes to complete VIM.
This software has been downloaded +500 times. You can try mirrors, but they are not advised.
Add: watching dvd's:
"I never use my original DVD's in the car in case they get lost or damaged and mainly so I can also get rid of all the menus, unwanted languages and other rubbish before and after the film, I just back up the main movie and burn at 2 X speed, if I burn at high speed they start to skip at about 30% of the way through the movie. So ,for me at least, back ups of DVD's work fine. I had to experiment a bit to find what were the best disks for my backups TDK DVD-R work fine in my RNS, I use DVD Shrink to make the backup fit on a 4.7Gb disk. You loose a little bit of quality if viewed on larger screens but on the RNS' small screen you would never notice."
