Abacus - Flight Deck 6 for FSX and FS2004

In the tradition of the five versions that preceeded, the new Flight Deck 6 once again delivers the challenge of aircraft carrier operations. This new version comes with significant enhancements that keep the Flight Deck series one of the most compelling add-ons for both Flight Simulator FSX and FS2004.

You'll begin your jockey training in the T-34 Mentor, a sprightly turbo-prop at Pensacola.

You'll progress to the jet-powered T-45 Goshawk at Corpus Christi.

Finally, you'll climb into the F/A-18C Hornet as you meet the challenge of aircraft carrier launches and recoveries from the deck of your new home base, the modern carrier - USS Harry S Truman.

Another achievement is the inclusion of missions not only for FSX but interactive, voice guided missions for FS2004 based on technology from Matthias Schill. With its powerful catapults be airborne in just a few hundred feet. For recovery, the steel cable is set to catch your tailhook to bring your aircraft to a screeching halt.

You'll start your training at land-based Naval Air Stations learning to use the catapults and cable landings. Here's the aicraft that you'll fly:

T-34 Turbo Mentor
T-45 Goshawk™
F/A-18C Hornet™
F/A-18E Super Hornet™
EA-6B Prowler
C-2A Greyhound
E-2C Hawkeye
SH-60B Seahawk

Launch

Hurry onto the deck. It's launch time and you're next in line.

Taxi into position over the catapult. The launch team connects you. The steam is flowing and the catapult armed.

Set your brake. From his crouching position, the yellow jacketed shooter gives you thumbs up.

It's game time.

Recovery

Landing on a moving carrier is said to be one of the most difficult tasks in flying.

To get you up to speed, your training will start at land-based Naval Air Stations. You'll practice your missions on fixed runways but using the cable landings with tailhooks.

Exciting Carrier Missions

Fly these FSX missions from the land-based NAS Pensacola, NAS Corpus Christi, NAS Kingsville and aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman.

Missions are top-quality. The exclusive FS2004 uses technology from Matthias Schill, developer of our FS Flight Ventures add-on.

FSX missions were developed by Ron Jeffers who has been creating innovative add-ons for our other FSX Mission series.

Missions include:

Blue Angel formation flying
Seahawk helicopter rescue
Radar jamming off Panama
MiG-29 intercept
T-34 combat training
T-45 combat maneuvers
T-45 bombing practice

Heads Up Display

You can also use the HUD display to guide you onto the deck.

On the left you can see that the aircraft icon is above the "center" mark meaning that you need to lose altitude to stay on the glideslope.

On the right, the aircraft if right on the mark and set for the trap. Good luck!

Special Effects

Special effects add to the realism of Flight Deck 6.

Moving carrier provides authentic landing environment. Steam vents from the deck surface at the catapult and the engine afterburners blast hot to get the aircraft airborne.
