Maxi Priest is de artiestennaam van songwriter en reggae artiest Max Alfred Elliott.
Hij scoorde in Nederland hits met Close To You (vierde in de Nederlandse Top 40, 1990), Wild World (zevende plaats, 1988) en Some Guys Have All The Luck (11e plaats, 1987).
Behalve solo werkte Maxi samen met onder meer Sly & Robbie, Shaggy (aan That Girl), Apache Indian (aan Feel It fe Real) en Shabba Ranks (aan Housecall). Hij draagt de bijnaam The King of Lovers Rock (Lovers Rock is een romantische substroming binnen de reggaemuziek).
