Note: Not all the listed features are available in all versions of this product.
What's new in Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2:
- Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 now supports Windows 10. You can back up and recover the computers that run the Windows 10 operating system.
- The x64 version of Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 supports ESXi 6.0, 5.5, 5.1, and 5.0. The x86 version of Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 supports ESXi 5.5, 5.1, and 5.0.
-Lets you create a Symantec System Recovery Disk for your recovery environment. As Microsoft does not allow redistribution of WinPE, Symantec no longer distributes the Symantec System Recovery Disk on DVD media or as an ISO that is downloadable from the web. You need to now create the Symantec System Recovery Disk in your environment.
- Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 now supports incremental back up of REFS volumes. REFS incremental support is available for the following operating systems:
■ Windows 10 (only 64-bit supported)
■ Windows 8.1 (only 64-bit supported)
■ Windows Server 2012
■ Windows Server 2012 R2
- Lets you back up and recover the system drives of UEFI and BIOS-based computers. For example, you can back up and recover the computers that run 64-bit versions of the following operating systems that support UEFI and BIOS technology:
■ Windows 7
■ Windows 8
■ Windows 8.1
■ Windows 10
■ Windows Server 2008
■ Windows Server 2008 R2
■ Windows Server 2012
■ Windows Server 2012 R2
Note: 32-bit UEFI is not supported by Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2.
- Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 supports 4K native volumes on Windows 8/Windows 2012 and above, backing-up and restoring volumes on 4K native disks, and the Copy My Hard Drive feature.
- Lets you rotate your USB disks to take backup. Using this feature, you do not have to edit the backup job and change the backup destination to add a new USB disk.
- Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 supports Exchange 2013 (full support for Granular Restore Option). There is limited support for Granular Restore Option when Outlook 2013 is installed. For Granular
Restore Option, when Outlook 2013 is installed, you can only restore email messages.
- Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 supports the VHDX format for virtual conversion.
- Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 has improved the support for RDX by automatically cleaning up orphan recovery points. The following tech note contains details about the limitations of RDX
for the earlier versions of Symantec System Recovery. These limitations have been fixed in this version and RDX rotation now works conceptually like USB rotation.
- Lets you access the new SymHelp, which identifies the common problems that you face. SymHelp directs you to the Symantec Knowledge Base, where solutions are already available. You just need to gather the data that is required to understand and resolve the issue.
