In Ruins was a well-known live band in the Benelux, due to lots of live gigs (with a.o. Altar, Sinister and Pentacle) in clubs and at festivals, and publicity in popular metal zines like Aardschok and Mindview.

During 2001 the holy fire slowly faded and the original founders of In Ruins, Hans and Frans Jan, decided to end the band.

From the ashes of In Ruins, two new bands have risen: Dominion and Hellebaard.
