Thesound quality of the songs heard on this collection are top-notch.  You'll get a strong feeling of familiarity as you move from each of the 17 tracks, one to the next.  There are performances that come from shows in 1977 ("Venus of Avenue D", "Little Girl") at Amsterdam, with most of the songs from '80s Live material, including his remarkable "Slow Drain" (from the 1980 Le Chat Bleu album, but here as a fantastic Live gem from his 1982 show at the Montreux Jazz Festival).  The live performances from the '90s ("Demasiado Corazon (Too Much Heart)", "Hey Joe") are wonderfully inspired, also from a Montreux Jazz Festival (1994).  Tracks from his 2000 shows reveal a still strong performer.  Sadly, Willy DeVille is no longer with us, having died in 2009.  But the music he's left behind in both studio and live tracks are still with us.

Come A Little Bit Closer: The Best of Willy DeVille Live is notjust a score for Mink DeVille/Willy DeVille fans, it is a 'MUST HAVE' addition to your DeVille library.  The performances on this set are absolutely top drawer performances and should not be missed - EVER!

Außerdem gelangen Ausschnitte vom 12. April 2005 (Paradiso Amsterdam), dem 15 Juli 1994 (Montreux Jazz Festival) und dem 24. Juni 2002 (Metropol Berlin), die Gastspiele Willy DeVille's und seiner Soloband konservieren, zur Vorführung. Dann gibt es noch einen Track vom Konzert am 21. März 2002 (Columbia Halle Berlin) mit dem THE WILLY DEVILLE ACOUSTIC TRIO.
