Post Description

Skin and Bones is a live acoustic album by the Foo Fighters released on November 7, 2006.

The DVD companion to the Foo Fighters live acoustic CD, Skin and Bones, offers more thrills for you Foo experience.

Skin and Bones, the DVD, was filmed at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood at the same show that the produced the CD. Don't expect any bonus features on the film version, apart from the short intro of Dave Grohl playing backstage and harassing his family.

The ambiance of the Pantages and the fact that you can clearly see the crowd adds an immediate intimacy to the show. So often these live DVDs are just 2-hour testaments to rock stars playing to bobbing heads and shaking fists. This time around you can see smiles and reactions, as well as the facial expression of that idiot with the over-animated head bob that seems to be at every concert.

Acoustic shows add the element of rock stars being required to show a little more depth. The Foo Fighters have always been a fun band and Grohl continues to hone his stand-up comedy chops.

Thankfully he offers more than comedy. The set list displays some of the band's durable hits along with the highlights from the acoustic side of In Your Honor. Tracks like "Marigold", "Razor" and "Another Round" are highlights. Along with drummer Taylor Hawkins' vocal turn on "Cold Day in the Sun".

The band is loose and the return of Pat Smear should be pleasing to anyone who has followed the Foo Fighters since their debut. People who worship at the foot of Cobain will view Skin and Bones with a critical eye. They shouldn't worry though. The Foo Fighters are such a different band, and this show is simply a pleasing document of the band's first acoustic tour"Intro"
