Ennio Morricone OMRI (Rome, 10 november 1928) is een Italiaanse componist die de muziek voor ruim 500 films en televisieseries componeerde en orkestreerde - Hij componeerde tevens meer dan honderd popsongs (voor onder meer Mireille Mathieu en Mina) en een 150-tal klassieke composities zoals een opera, een tiental viool- en pianoconcerto's en kamermuziek.

Tot zijn bekendste filmscores behoren For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), The Mission (1986), The Untouchables (1987), Cinema Paradiso (1989), Bugsy (1991), Wolf (1994), Malèna (2001), Fateless (2005) en Baaria (2009) - Hij schrijft momenteel muziek voor 'Capone Rising' van Brian De Palma.

De componist verkocht wereldwijd meer dan 50 miljoen albums en singles[1][2], waarvan meer dan 6,5 miljoen[3] in Frankrijk, ruim drie miljoen in de Verenigde Staten[4] en meer dan twee miljoen albums in Korea.[5]
