Post Description

For decades Øystein Sevåg has been clear about his vision and reason for making music: to inspire and encourage us to explore our inner space, our inner beauty. His new album "Space for a crowded world" is perhaps the most accurate reflection of that vision.

On this abum Øystein Sevåg has developed his keyboard-universe to a new level. Partly as a result of a solo concert series he did at the time he worked on this album. He has used contemplative elements on previous albums too, but most often as a contrast to rhythmically intense pieces. This album is a throughout contemplative, ethereal and meditative journey. It can bring associations to the ambient album "Visual" (1994), but is definitely a fresh fruit of recent years experience and experiments.

Sevåg is always selective when choosing musicians for his projects. The only co-musicians on “Space for a crowded world” is the german Theremin-player Barbara Buchholz, participating on two tracks, and the norwegian singer Benedicte Torget, on one. The rest is Sevåg solo - in many layers.

“Iets kan zowel goed, slecht of geen van beiden zijn. Muziek is bijvoorbeeld goed voor iemand in een melancholische bui, slecht voor degene die rouwt en de dove maakt het niets uit.”

“A person does not hear sound only through the ears; he hears sound through every pore of his body.
It permeates the entire being, and according to its particular influence either slows or quickens the rhythm of the blood circulation; it either wakens or soothes the nervous system.
It arouses a person to greater passions or it calms him by bringing him peace. According to the sound and its influence a certain effect is produced.
Sound becomes visible in the form of radiance.
This shows that the same energy which goes into the form of sound before being visible is absorbed by the physical body.
In that way the physical body recuperates and becomes charged with new magnetism.”

~ Sufi Inayat’s ~

Enjoy the feeling
