Olivia Newton-John - Soul Kiss *1985*
Olivia, what were you playing at? :-) Four years after the album Physical, Olivia brought out Soul Kiss. The soft sexiness of some of the tracks on Physical is swapped for what can only be described as a sultry, almost kinky feel on this album. Olivia wasn't really being true to herself, so she didn't quite pull that off - Madonna would probably have had no trouble... While the overall concept wasn't quite right, there are good tracks on this IMHO - Soul Kiss itself works well, and Emotional Tangle and The Right Moment are good. However, you have to admire Olivia for experimenting and whilst it may not be a favorite of mine it ranks high in some fans' collections.
The European and Japanese 1985 issues of the CD contained the bonus track Electric which was only available on the B side of the Soul Kiss 45rpm single in other territories. The Japanese 1985 CD notes neglect to mention that Electric is included which has led to confusion. It's in fact mentioned on the CD itself and is the track 10on the Japanese CD. The European/Japanese vinyl LP did not have the extra track. And interestingly when the UK and Japanese CDs were remastered in 2001/2002 they didn't contain Electric either.
