Gary Moore is vooral bekend geworden door zijn hits Still got the Blues en Oh Pretty Woman. Naast zijn solocarriere was hij jarenlang gitarist van de Ierse band Thin Lizzy. 
Hij werkte samen met grote namen als Bob Dylan, B.B. King en Albert Collins.
De jonge gitarist Gary Moore werd voornamelijk beinvloed door Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix en Peter Green van Fleetwoord Mac.
In februari 2011 overleed Gary Moore op 58-jarige leeftijd onverwachts aan een hartaanval, tijdens een verblijf in Spanje. Hij zou later dat jaar optreden tijdens het Amersfoortse Highlands festival.
