"Although the band's music is standard party-happy synthpop, Cobra Starship owns one of the strangest rock stories in the Garden State. Frontman Gabe Saporta, who lived in Springfield and went to high school in West Orange, was once the bassist and singer in Midtown, a roughneck pop-punk band that shared more with earnest Saves the Day than poppy Panic! at the Disco. "Save the World, Lose the Girl," the band's 2000 release, remains one of the cornerstones of Jersey emo-pop."
