Post Description

Jim Gustin and Truth Jones' music is a big old frying pan full of rock, country, and gospel, all smothered in the blues. Jim Gustin and Truth Jones spent years playing clubs and bars, in and around L.A. from the Hollywood scene in the 80's to line dancin' country in the 90's, from endless classic rock cover gigs on Saturday nights to church on Sunday mornings. Over that time, musical styles and influences changed, but one thing remained constant; The Blues. Blues is not just the main ingredient in rock, country and gospel music, like smoky flavor, it runs through everything that Jim Gustin and Truth Jones does.

Their debut album, "Can't Shed a Tear", flows effortlessly from the driving title track to the slow grooving "No Faith in Forever". Unlike many of the today's albums, where every song sounds alike, this album never gets old, with both Gustin and the talented Jeri Goldenhar, swapping lead vocals, each song has a different flavor. Gustin's deep smoky rasp on "Why, Why ,Why" contrasts nicely with Goldenhar's sass on Good-Bye. Jim Scimonetti's saxophone is a nice change of pace from Gustin and Baurer's guitars.

Honest, heartfelt lyrics, that reflect the joy and challenges of real life, performed with passion and conviction make their songs easy to relate to. The playful "If God Made Something Better" and "My Baby Just Left Me Again" go together nicely with the introspective, "Beauty For Ashes' and "Fill up my Soul". Gustin's "You Never Gave up on Me' will make you pick up the phone and call your Mother before the song is even finished. Greer and Sipotz lay down a solid groove throughout and producer Terry Wilson (Eric Burden, Ana Popovich) layers everything nicely with keys played by his wife, legendary blues singer Teresa James and John Rabbitt Bundrick (The Who) and Chuck Goldenhar's harmonica.

Jim Gustin and Truth Jones do a tremendous job of combining their many and varied musical and personal experiences into a tasty dish, that is sure to bring you back for a second helping.
