Mathias Grassow is een Duitse ambient muzikant wiens opnames kunnen ook worden ingedeeld in de genres van dark ambient en drone ambient. 
Zijn muziek heeft vaak een meditatieve en emotionele en spirituele context, die diepe gevoelens van inkeer in luisteraars teweegbrengt.
Tijdens zijn lange carrière (vanaf 1983), werkte hij intensief samen met andere opmerkelijke ambient componisten zoals Klaus Wiese, Oöphoi, Alio Die, Bruno Sanfilippo, en Tomas Weiss.
