Bulletstorm speelt zich af in de zesentwintigste eeuw. Je kruipt in de huid van Grayson Hunt, een lid van een geheime eenheid genaamd Dead Echo. Als blijkt dat deze persoon onschuldig is, weigert Hunt de man te doden en wordt hij een voortvluchtige. Uiteindelijk komt hij terecht op een planeet die bevolkt wordt door moordlustige mutanten.
