Orange Bicycle were an English Pop-Band which existed from 1967 ? 1971. The band played a style influenced by The Beach Boys, The Beatles and the Hippie-culture, as well as by other groups like The Rolling Stones. They also acted as support and backing band for the duo Paul and Barry Ryan. The lead singer was Robert J Scales (under his stage name Rob Storm) and members were John Bachini , Kevin Curry, Bernie Lee and Wilson Malone.
The band had been in existence through most of the 1960's, originally as 'Rob Storm and the Whispers' when they toured as England's answer to the Beach Boys, and later as fashions changed they morphed into 'The Rob Storm Group', finally when the pschadelic revolution arrived they renamed to Orange Bicycle.
The first single of Orange Bicycle, "Hyacinth Threads", was a number-1-hit in France and quite successful in some other European countries.
1968, the band started to cover e. g. songs of The Rolling Stones ("Sing This All Together"). Its most successful album Orange Bicycle includes covered songs of The Beatles ("Carry That Weight"), Bob Dylan ("Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You") and Elton John ("Take Me to the Pilot"). In 1971, the band broke up.
