Op woensdag 25 januari speelt de Amerikaanse band een show in AFAS Live. Dropkick Murphys combineert Ierse folkmuziek, hardcore en punk tot een zeer energiek en aanstekelijk eigen geluid. De support acts voor deze show zijn het Britse Skinny Lister en het Amerikaanse Slapshot. De kaartverkoop verloopt via Ticketmaster.

Als we teruggaan naar de oorsprong van Dropkick Murphys, komen we uit in het jaar 1995, ergens in een Iers-katholieke arbeidersbuurt van Boston (Massachusetts). In de kelder van een kapperszaak werd volop geëxperimenteerd met het combineren van punk, Ierse folk, rock en hardcore.

Geïnspireerd door bands als Stiff Little Fingers, The Pogues, AC/DC, The Clash, The Misfits en Motörhead creëerde de band een compleet eigen geluid. Twintig jaar en acht studio-albums later staat de band nog altijd garant voor vrolijke en energieke concerten, meezingende menigtes en circle pits. Compleet met gitaren, mandolines en doedelzakken zullen zanger Al Barr en de overige zes 'fighting Irish' ook in 2016 weer op pad gaan door Europa.
