Post Description
Finding recordings that truly capture the power of Orthodox chant is problematic. Many if not most of them have not been recorded in a church but rather in a relatively sonically clean studio environment. That said, the Russian Patriarchate Choir have made some generally terrific recordings, including several released in the West by the Opus 111 label, though they seem to be largely unavailable at this point. Two excellent CDs were being sold at the concerts: the new liturgical 'Russian Church Classical Music' collection and the mixed-program 2001 release, 'Anthology of Russian Choral Singing,' both issued by the group itself in Moscow and otherwise hard to find.
