Plot or synopsis:
* Based on the children's fantasy novel The Borrowers by Mary Norton, which received the
Carnegie Medal in 1952.

The story follows a family of little people living under the floorboards of a house, surviving
by secretly borrowing items from the humans who inhabit it. One day, their existence is
discovered by a young boy.

Note: Although the original novel was set in England during the 1950s, the Ghibli version
takes place in present-day Japan.
