The latest Disney villain to get the origin-story treatment is Cruella de Vil, 
the hugely memorable bad ’un from 1961 animation One Hundred and One Dalmatians 
(later portrayed by Glenn Close in the live-action remakes).
In the upcoming Cruella, Emma Stone plays the titular character in her early days in 1970s London, 
when she’s known as Estella and is trying to make it as a fashion designer in amid the punk rock revolution.
She befriends a pair of familiar-looking crooks, 
and also catches the attention of Emma Thompson’s fashion legend Baroness von Hellman, 
which sets her on course to being the character we recognise. Just don’t expect it to all be black and white…
